Tropical Abode..... Swagman, a term referring to transient workers who travel by foot. This quaint hotel is designed to create a warm inviting vibe by simply looking at its façade. Its charm makes guests feel as comfortable as they are when at their own homes. Hotel guests can enjoy a wonderful meal in the restaurant or outside by the front porch as they watch the dynamic city in action. This charming hotel is inspired by a layered design patterned after the rich history that the city it nestles in has experienced. The lowermost level is designed with a Spanish Mediterranean character, since the foundation of the Philippine culture is highly influenced by the Spaniards. It is most fitting to set this theme at the base of the building as it made the most impression on who the Filipinos are today. The second level is designed with a traditional tropical Filipino approach. It is the most prominent feature of the building and it is the element that gives the building a modest charm. This layer represents how the Philippines, though a hodgepodge of cultures have influenced it, still retains its pride and gives the utmost respect and importance to its roots. The levels above represent the history we have with the Americans. It has an influence of the American classical style with the arcades surrounding the structure. While the rear portion of the hotel represents the modern world with its simple and clean lines. Overall, this charming hotel is a historical strata that livens the city’s past, present and future.
