Cremasco House, a mixed-use building in The Macedon Hills of Victoria, is a remarkable project from Paul Couch's later work, which is only now beginning to be given deeper consideration. As someone who doesn't like to romanticize his work, When asked a leading question, Paul Couch simply gets back to the facts. Asked what kind of emotional response the building creates, he said it provides shade from the sun and shelter from the wind. In a question about the idea behind the project, he stated the type of building the client wanted. There is a feeling that the work should speak for itself -- and it does, and it is moving. Such is its power that the lack of attention paid to the promotion of Paul Couch's work has not kept it entirely out of the spotlight.
