The Mirage Cinema is a new space on Petrograd Side in St Petersburg;
it has emerged as part of the rethinking of an iconic and historically important urban location.
Lights dimmed, curtains drawn, and a hushed anticipation in the air – stepping into the realm of a cinema theatre is like stepping into a world of dreams. Over the course of two exhilarating nights, I had the privilege of capturing the heart and soul of a cinema theatre through the lens of my camera. Join me on this visual journey as I share the intricate process of capturing the essence of this cinematic sanctuary.
As the first night fell upon the cinema theatre, I found myself immersed in the beauty of its empty spaces. The challenge was to capture the ambiance that usually goes unnoticed – the quiet anticipation of what's to come, the echoes of laughter and applause, and the stories that have unfolded within these walls.
In this post, I'll walk you through my gear setup that I used on this shooting.
At the heart of this interior photography adventure is the Fujifilm GFX50SII. With its medium format sensor, this camera captures an astonishing level of detail, allowing me to translate every texture, every hue, and every nuance of the interior space into pixels. The GFX50SII's dynamic range ensures that even in challenging lighting conditions, I can retain every shadow and highlight, revealing the true essence of the space.
To wield the power of perspective control and conquer converging lines, the Canon TS-E 24mm and 50mm lenses stepped onto the scene. These tilt-shift lenses are my secret weapons for combating distortion and capturing architecture as it was intended to be seen. With precise adjustments, I create images that remain true to the architect's vision, ensuring walls stand tall and lines run parallel.
A reliable tripod is an unsung hero in interior photography. Enter the Sunway T3240CM. Its sturdy build and adjustable height give me the flexibility to compose shots at various angles without compromising stability. From wide shots that encompass an entire room to close-ups that highlight intricate details, this tripod keeps my camera steady and my creativity flowing.

The Sunway GH-PROii tripod head complements the T3240CM, delivering seamless movement and precise control. This fluid head glides effortlessly, allowing me to smoothly pan and tilt as I frame my shots. Whether I'm capturing the grandeur of a spacious interior or honing in on a specific feature, the GH-PROii ensures my camera follows my creative direction with elegance.
As I navigate through these incredible tools, I'm reminded that interior photography isn't just about capturing spaces; it's about telling a visual story.
