The teacher team have helped to develop a creative and project-oriented learning environment for Lab for New Learning Principles for the 8th and 9th graders at Buddinge School, north of Copenhagen. The refurbishment transforms four existing, traditional classrooms into a coherent, open learning landscape that invites active and varied teaching.
The learning landscape offers differentiated zones where students can work in large groups, individually or in smaller teams. A new connection to the existing craft and design workshop enables the students to get creative and practice-oriented with their projects.
Lab for New Learning Principles is part of School of the Future program to change teaching methods. During the next ten years, the physical framework at Gladsaxe Municipality's schools will be optimized, so it supports a contemporary pedagogy. In particular, the development of the pupils' competencies is in focus.
With the winding meadow, the red cushioned isles and the secluded mountain for presentation, the learning landscape creates an inspiring environment, where the students are active and engaged in their learning processes.
