In 1973, an experimental round market (shell diameter 53.2 m) with an area of 2100 sq. m was opened in Kiev on Kudryashova Street. The purpose of the experiment was to verify the volumetric-planning solutions, the technology of preparation and installation of the coating of the radial cables and the precast concrete shell, as well as the prefabricated external support.
The entrances will be high in the structure of the wall of the façade in the form of frames with different positions of the various racks in the position of the place of retouching. The shape of the frame is inscribed in the structure of the wall,
“not ruining” it.
During its history, the market has changed its functional purpose several times. Since 80s it became the “Ocean” store, and in the 1990s it became the “Kiev Universal Exchange”, and in the 2000s it became the “Velyka Kyshenya” supermarket. In 2021, a decision was made to close the supermarket at this address. In the spring of 2022, as well as in the spring of 2024, they became aware of the local destruction, as a result of the rocket and shotgun fire.
Alla Anishchenko is also the author of similar architecture and constructive solutions,
as: the market in Cherkassy 1972, Kharkiv and Rivne 1979, Makhachkala 1988, the supermarket on Pecherskaya Square in Kiev 1984.
Friends, what do you think about this architecture, and should it be saved?
