Terrazzo essentially belongs to the category of artificial stone, is the aggregate such as gravel, glass, quartz stone mixed with cement bonding material, solidification for coagulation products through the surface grinding, polishing formed a building material.

水磨石本质上属于人造石范畴，是将碎石、玻璃、石英石等骨料混入水泥粘接料，凝固为混凝制品后经表面研磨、抛光形成的一种建筑材料。

Terrazzo originated in the 16th century, when Venetian artisans brought home the remaining marble scraps from the decoration of their mansions, which were then simply inlaid in the courtyard.

16世纪时期，威尼斯工匠们把豪宅装修剩下的大理石边角料带回家中，简单处理后随意镶嵌在院子中，这便是水磨石的起源。
