Palacio de Cristal | Parque de El Retiro | Madrid, Spain
Crystal Palace - built in 1887 entirely of steel and glass, hence its name. It can be found in the heart of Retiro Park in Madrid. Interestingly, the building was modeled on London's Crystal Palace, which was unfortunately destroyed by fire in 1936. Today Madrid's Palácio de Cristal is owned by the Queen Sofia Museum and we can often encounter contemporary art exhibitions here.
El Palacio de Cristal is one of the many buildings located in Retiro Park. It can confidently be considered unrivaled. The original glass and steel structure catches the eye of every walker. The effect is enhanced by the pond located in front of the palace facade.
It’s a hidden gem in a Madrid park. Created as a hothouse with exotic Filipino plants, expanded with 3 greenhouses it is a beautiful place to seek inspiration and relax.
Steel and glass create an amazing interior, as if in ice chambers you can admire flashes and reflections of light.
