A three sequences promenade park
Over the years, the low quays of Rouen have been abandoned and replaced by a large car park, and by the fair Saint-Romain one month a year. The reflection conducted on the left bank has developed a system of the large port park that offers various uses.
Facing the Sainte-Catherine coast and the cathedral, the river promenade stretches for one kilometre; planted with multi-trunk plane trees and punctuated by several bridges forming three sequences.Upstream, the Saint-Sever meadow opens onto the Seine, and the dock, reshaped in tiers, allows one to get closer to the water. This riparian meadow, equipped with some chaises longues, is punctuated with clumps of willows.Downstream, the scenes of Claquedent offer playgrounds. The long sequence of the Bargemen esplanade combines grassy stretches, poplar groves and a playful mineral space. The large jetty provides access to the wharf and offers views on the opposite bank. The furniture and signage are sober and raw, echoing the port industrial identity.
