Septum is a stone partition board, which is assembled thought the iteration of a single ashlar. This ashlar derives from the philological evolution of the reciprocal system. The stone, like all the other natural materials, has the virtues of lending environment a wide range of themes, contrasts and patterns, in addition its natural characteristics produce a huge variety of hues creating different results. One of the greatest benefits of stone is its durability therefore it could be used as architectural material on the outside and the inside. Furthermore, the stone is able to adapt to a wide range of different environment types, creating innovative and sophisticated atmospheres which merge perfectly with modern furnishings, producing a vivid contrast not only to decorate the environment, but also to make it comfortable. The type of stone chosen for the prototype ‘s realization is the straw-coloured “Leccese” stone, a limestone typical of Salento. It’s known for its plasticity and ease of manufacturing, suitable for both architectural and sculptural use due to its clayish part, which makes it malleable. Accordingly, it can be shaped by lathe or by hand. Its versatile characteristics make suitable for different uses and it has become a niche choice over the years, which matches innovative and unique designs. Septum is obtained through the manufacturing and transformation of unrefined blocks, using next-gen machineries which allow to achieve original shapes and productions. Septum is a wall separator, that can be placed in every space, from the traditional to the contemporary one. Its suitability for both dividing inner space and enclosing outer space allows the installation of privileged “locus”. Furthermore, Septum let the light on through the holes managing light effects. The Stone is an adaptable material, which could be combined with furniture and materials belonging to different styles and periods. Forasmuch as stone has an antique “charm”, its combinations are capable of creating unique space and environments which will last over the years.
