The project concerns the refurbishment of the basement and ground floor in a four story building of the Sixties, previously used as tile warehouse.
Aesthetic and functional enhancements have been made to convert the commercial activity into the dental clinic, with a new layout. Particular attention has been paid to the interior lighting: the generous height of the ceiling of the original building made it possible to play with different heights in the rooms, ranging from 3 mt in the waiting room up to 4 mt in the operative rooms. In this way, in addition to the passage of the installations above the ceiling, it was possible to open the top of the walls, allowing natural light to enter in all the rooms, guaranteeing maximum brightness in the interiors. To this end a large use of glass material has been made in the walls, doors and top windows, with either transparent or satin finishing depending on the level of privacy to be ensured to the patients in the various rooms. Much care has been given to colors and materials, alternating the cleanliness of white walls and curtains with the tranquility infused by sage green used in other walls, in the graphics and in signals. The elm wood furniture and the orange of armchairs of the waiting room added warmth to the ambience.
The use of colors different from white, especially in the waiting room, reception and front office created an ambience where stimuli typically associated with the dental office could be removed, in order to improve the experience of the patients during the waiting time. The colors also naturally blended with the tree-lined street of the exteriors.
