La maison est située en limite de la commune de Lausanne, en lisière de forêt, entourée de 3 côtés par le bois de Rovéréaz.

La maison vient clore la clairière au sud.

La parcelle est en déclivité nord ouest sud est, elle empiète en partie la limite des 10 mètre à la forêt.

Le Projet se contextualise par différentes proposition, Il répond tout d’abord au bois en se formalisant sur la limite de construction des 10 mètres à celle-ci en cadastrant matériellement cette parallèle naturelle verte.

Le projet préfère la continuité à la rupture (pas de retrait pour l’attique) afin de ne pas lire 3 corps de bâtiment mais une seule toiture.

 La volumétrie est une forme forte qui ne s’oriente pas, elle est plutôt cherchante afin de dialoguer autant avec le jardin à l’arrière (clairière) qu’au sud avec le soleil.

Les ouvertures recherchent le dialogue avec les différentes particularités du site, le jardin zen à l’arrière, un affluent de la Vuachère sur le côté et les alpes au sud ansi que la toiture existante. Du point de vue de la contextualisation matériel, le projet propose comme interface avec le site de se vêtir de bardeau , un savoir faire, une culture artisanale de nos régions qui utilise comme matière première la forêt qui l’entoure.

The house is located on the outskirts of the municipality of Lausanne, on the forest edge, surrounded on three sides by the Rovéréaz woods.

The house encloses the forest clearing to the south.

 The plot lies on an incline running from north-west to south-east, with a partial encroachment upon the 10-metre limit to the forest.

In contextual terms, the project involves a variety of proposals. Firstly, in response to the woodland setting, it provides a formal embodiment of the 10-metre limit of construction through its physical plotting on this natural green borderline.

The design favours continuity over fragmentation (with no recessing of the attic storey), to deliver a single roof line rather than a building in three sections.

The volumetric design is strongly-defined, but favours investigation over fixed orientation, in order to interact with both the garden to the rear (forest clearing) and the sun to the south.

Outlooks have been arranged to interact with the various specific features of the site, the zen garden to the rear, a tributary of the La Vuachère river to the side, and the Alps to the south, together with the existing roof line. In terms of material context, the design will interact with the site through the use of timber shingles, in accordance with a local craft culture for the employment of the surrounding forest as a source of raw materials.
