To be competitive, resorts across the world must both look fresh and accommodate the latest amenities and activities. Near the turn of the century Northstar California, a ski-resort near Lake Tahoe in northern California, realized that it was falling behind. Design Workshop worked with a team of architects, engineers, and traffic and planning consultants to transform the Village, and inspired the developer to set the bar for all other resort developments. The client responded with the unprecedented step of personally becoming LEED® Accredited Professionals and devoting full time staff to ensure commitment towards meeting this goal.
