This house, purchased by a father, is given as a gift to his offspring to set up a new family. Now this gift is not only a house, but also a long companion and silent concern from father.
LADDER: the meaning of the house is not only the space to solve the living functions, but also the carrier of self-cultivation, ethical construction and the inheritance of family style.

LADDER’s pursuit in space design is to finding the essential meaning of human being in the real world, the experience about existence, the stressful lifestyle, no matter what we do, the shelter of space is everywhere, whether it’s the sky, the ocean, the forest or a wooden house.

回家的画面,这是门厅的位置,除了满足鞋柜及衣物的功能外,我们考虑主人回家后,经历了疲惫的一天,进门的这一刻温暖扑面而来,选了一件雕塑作品《掷铁饼的Baby》,可爱的Baby让我们浮躁疲惫的心得到回归。
The picture of being home: the hall, expects the storage function of shoes and clothes, we much more consider when the owner went through a exhausting day and being home. At the moment he enters the door, the lovely sculpture work “baby throwing discus” which is carefully selected by designer giving us peaceful feeling to our restless and tired mind.

穿行在空间之中,从客厅到门厅再到餐厅,我们希望空间的界限存在于体块内部,当走过全部由木质结构构成的门厅,便会感觉到材质的变化,瞬间人与空间的场景感出现在这里。
Walking through the space, from the living room to the foyer and to the dining room, we hope each space has its inner place making boundaries. When walking through the warm wood foyer, we can instantly feel the scene of space and human’s interaction via the changing of the materials.

黑色的客厅背景,再加入一把黑色的椅子,如果身着一身黑色的衣服,那么就此有如进入黑暗,有人说不喜欢黑色,惧怕黑色。我想说,就像白天与夜晚,接受夜晚,反观才知道什么是白天,不理解黑色就无法明白光明是什么。
The background of living room is black, with a black rocking chair. It’s like entering the dark midnight, if you wear a black dress. Well, someone say he don’t like black, afraid of black. Designer want to initiate that white and black just like the day and night. We knowing the bright day and understand the deep and quiet night.

这套二层的住宅空间,在设计处理上,二楼与一楼空间的场景互动,是设计之初我们需要考虑的问题,怎样的设计可以将人处于空间中,通过空间的处理关系将人与人的距离拉近,产生一种情景般的日常,从而解决房子原始结构一味满足房间功能而使空间过于封闭的问题。我们在二楼原始结构的基础上,设计一个新的体块,它是独立于挑高区域的新空间,一个大空间内的小空间,既共存又独立,形成了一种体块间的对话。

In this two-story residential space, the interaction between each is the core problem we considering at the beginning of the design. Using space design techniques to deal with the human and space, to make a closer feeling daily life placing, and solves the problem that the original structure blindly focuses on the room functions and makes the space rigid. We design a new block on the original structure of the second floor, which is independent of the high-rise area. A unique small space in a large space, both coexisting and independent, compose a harmonious dialogue between spaces.

设想清晨起床睡眼朦胧,面对楼下正在喝茶阅读的家人,一声问候,家人之间那份关于爱的体验才是空间应该表达的。
Imagine getting up in the morning with sleeping eyes, greeting the drinking tea and reading family members downstairs, the love experience among the family is vital ideas what space should express.

这是原始墙体的水泥结构,在施工过程中保留了一块作为一幅画来处理,它所能够传递的恰恰是关于精神的一个窗口看到内部世界的本来样子,通过此画让我们更关注外表之下对于内在精神的追求。
A piece of the cement processing structure was retained as a painting on the wall. It conveying a window about the spirit – to see the original appearance of the internal world. Through this painting, we enlighten people to pay more attention to the pursuit of the internal spirit under the appearance.

餐桌的品牌选自梵几家居,黑胡桃的温润与质感让空间瞬间安静下来,配上一把柴烧的山烟几何,乐子砚作品——烟雨在我们的文化中相通,因其无形却有形 。
The brand of dining table is selected from Fnji furniture. The warmth and texture of black walnut make the space quiet instantly. With a handful of Shanyan geometry and Misty rain – the work of Lziyan which is interlinked in our invisible but tangible traditional culture.

孤独的窗,二楼的一个房间,设计对于我们来说,不是将家具和材料填满,当我走进房间最吸引我的就是这扇窗,我无需做任何多余的事情,单单是设计一个书桌,放一把单椅,故事便开始了。
A solitary window in a room on the second floor. Design is not to fill the space with lots of furniture and materials. Entering the room, what attract mostly is the window, the space doesn’t need to add any extra things, just put a desk, a chair, and the story begins.
