Italian Intimacy in an Urban LandscapeLocated in 'The Centre' one of Britain's largest shopping centres, Blacksheep were faced with the challenge of creating an environment that was welcoming and instils a sense of warmth and character in a featureless concrete and glass site occupies 600sqm over two floors with an entrance from the main street as well as from the main shopping arcade. Retail is pushed to the forefront of the arcade facade along with the pasta making area which makes use of windows that fold back to bring theatre and product directly to the customer, enticing them into the warmth and welcoming feel of the space is fashioned though the use of hand-made Terracotta tiles, character bridge oak wall panelling and terrazzo style floor tiles. These elements are offset against zinc bar panelling and copper washed wire wine display cabinets that wrap over the ceiling to create 'frames' that focus the flow and views though to the main intimate dining room is housed on the first floor, with the iconic Jamie antipasti display bar acting as a backdrop. Timber panelling stained dark blue, bespoke copper feature lighting and a wall of antique mirror combine to create an area of surprise and delight, bringing a small taste of Italy with a Jamie twist into the heart of Milton Keynes.
