Uchida Shanghai created the multi-purpose space home to Panasonic Wanbao Appliances Beauty and Living’s office located in Guangzhou, China.
This office is attached to a factory that manufactures beauty products such as Panasonic hair dryers and shavers.
In order to create a sense of unity at the entrance, visitors are greeted by a wall with a logo made of bamboo louvers in the same module as the shelves. The floor is made of mortar, which creates a beautiful contrast with the bamboo laminated wood used as a point of reference.
The corridor and meeting space planned on the south side of the building is an important buffer zone for lighting and ventilation.
The corridor is divided into two public areas with 400mm modular shelves to display prototypes and create continuity between the office and public areas. The height of the shelves is up to 1200mm, which is a standard height for storage.
On the grid shelves, boxes can be placed in any position and the orientation can be changed.
From the office side, it can be used as a storage space for documents, and from the corridor side, it can be used as a display shelf for products.
This is one of the design features of this office. There are four semi-open meeting spaces in the office space, allowing for moderately open meetings.
An open office that is neither too rough nor too rigid was achieved by determining the design modules and selecting the materials.
