Atelier Cube
Christ the King Kindergarten
This is a plan to rebuild an historical kindergarten where the teaching is based on the Montessori Method. On the first floor I created a ‘house’ (nursery room) a ‘garden’ (middle space) and a ‘society’ (playground) with both an inner and outer skin. On the second floor I created an inside and outside space by making an artificial ground. Children play with Montessori educational materials in the ‘house’ and dance in the ‘garden’. Over the outer skin we can see the playground and children running around there. We can taste light, wind, sounds and smells through various openings. There are diverse connections between inside and outside. A sense of distance. These appeal to children’s various sensibilities.
