Le rocher très percé
Designed by Humà Design Years of exhibition: 2018, 2019
Removed from its context, a structure with aquatic colours is found in an earthy, rocky, mineral and planted landscapes. Often seen from a distance, imposing because of its symbolism and size, a very pierced rock is deposited in Grand-Métis for the summer. The visitor is invited to touch, climb and enjoy the reinterpretation of this normally untouchable icon, symbol for an entire region. Here, one can circle round, climb and even lie down on this contemporary remake in a natural and festive environment. The project continues the respectful dialogue between the cultural and natural landscapes offered by Les Jardins de Métis / Reford Gardens.

Les hélicoptères
Designed by Anna Thomas & Carson Isenor Years of exhibition: 2018, 2019
The project invites visitor to remember the playfulness and beauty of nature and to celebrate the life cycle of the native maple tree. Les hélicoptères mimics the action of real seed pods with artificial colors and materials in order to call attention to its beauty, form and function.
Thousands of colourful samaras are frozen in time in their most animated moment of life to evoke enchantment and nostalgia for visitors. Adults will remember how they used to play with the seeds and show their younger counterparts how it is done. Touch, spin, examine, explore, and remember to play with the real one come autumn. “We hope this will spark interest in the visitors to continue to engage with natural objects in the future.”

Making Waves
Designed by Reesha, Cornel, Thevishka, Anton, Ted Years of exhibition: 2019
In physics, the kinetic energy of an object is the energy built up within it due to its motion. Building upon this idea, our team wanted to show how the motion of just two individuals could build up, expand, and multiply kinetic energy to create a spectacular wave of colour. Visitors are invited to play on a seesaw but will be surprised at how a familiar activity can have such unfamiliar and exciting results.
The seesaw twists a flexible rubber belt onto which lightweight aluminium bars are affixed. As the seesaw moves up and down, the belt twists and turns, and a wave of kinetic energy radiates from pink to blue as the aluminum planks oscillate. Increasing the speed and frequency of the seesaw’s movements result in more generated energy and more spectacular waves.
Our installation requires the kinetic energy of individuals to reach its full potential; and so, its colours, shape, and familiar seesaw components emphasize the invitation for interaction. The fantastic displays of colour and movement created by kinetic energy allows each participant to “make waves” in her or his own way.

Paysage euphonique
Designed by MANI Years of exhibition:2017, 2018, 2019
Euphony, in the field of music, refers to a pleasant and harmonious combination of sounds. In this garden, designers put tension on the relationship of visitors to the landscape: the colours bring about a physiological change in them while the conical shapes amplify the sounds. These playgrounds reveal the elements of the site and invite the visitors to play there.
Sky: everything is calm. Our head enters an immense open cone isolated from the rest of the elements. Each of these devices invites the whole spectrum of communication, from contemplative listening to the expression of our wild soul.

Réflexions colorées
Designed by Hal Ingberg Years of exhibition: 2003-2019
A semi-reflective equilateral triangle (20 x 20 x 20 ft) provides an intimate, courtyard-like enclosure that both frames and intensifies the perception of the forest.
Within the enclosure, the colour of the glass establishes a sense of spatial definition, while its semi-reflective surface creates surprising perceptual readings that change with the conditions of light and the visitor’s position towards trees and angles at which glass corners meet.
From the outside, the installation is physically understood, but its receptor quality transforms it into an enigmatic object. This installation was originally created for the 2003 edition of the International Garden Festival.
