Lake Michigan Beachfront log cabin in Northport Point was purchased by a San Francisco Bay Area family. The house is located in an area that is considered a treasure, and the owner's wife spent summers in Michigan as a child, so she wanted to give her children the same carefree experience. So the couple hired Californian designer Jay Jeffers to remodel their new summer-Ready Log Cabin.

The house was built in 1910 for Hollis Baker, the son of the furniture company's founder. It had not been renovated for nearly 40 years before Jay Jeffers redecorated it, and because the design studio knew it would be a home that would be passed down from generation to generation, he wanted to create something that was timeless, comfortable and fun.

Jay Jeffers' design team kept the cabin's charm alive by restoring the original wood walls and stones and keeping the iconic pink doors in fun pop colors. She tried to modernize the house's electrical, plumbing and structural systems without compromising its authentic style.

The studio added bunks on the first and second floors above the garage, as well as a beach cottage by the lake. They think families come here for the summer because they really want to enjoy themselves and not worry about anything. So it's a very family-oriented place, and when you're sitting outside, all of a sudden, three families drive up in golf carts, it's going to be a great gathering place.
