Maxam+Co realized a new sense of space for fashion school, the Institute Group located in Chippendale, Australia.

For this project Maxam+Co was able to create hallowed halls of creativity by building a place of style and substance for young minds to be empowered by the study of fashion. The first thing that strikes is the buildings overwhelming feeling of space. Class rooms, transitions and even doorways enjoy a sense of generosity and allow flow and light to permeate throughout. Shapes play beautifully within the space, providing elements of interest without crowding or losing connection to the spirit of the original design. Contrasting levels present interesting corners and private spaces for young minds to retreat to. Polished concrete floors are elegant and spare, giving the Institute Group breathing space and allowing bolder elements to be revealed. The sophisticated floor plan flows naturally through to large class room spaces – designed perfectly for learning and creativity. Ultimately the Institute Group by Maxam+Co is a stylish build that is testament to the stylish nature of the Sydney fashion industry.
