Thuringian State Prize for Architecture and Urban Design 2018 About the price The Thuringian State Prize for Architecture and Urban Development is awarded every two years by the Thuringian Ministry of Infrastructure and Agriculture. In cooperation with the Thuringia Chamber of Architects and the Baukultur Thuringia Foundation, the Ministry has been looking for the twelfth time this year for the twelfth time the most innovative architectural and urban design concepts in the Free State. The State Prize recognizes projects that deal with holistic topical issues (such as the careful use of the environment and resources, the reuse of space and buildings or energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness), thereby satisfying a particularly high aesthetic standard and thus building our own days shape. The complex consideration of buildings, open spaces and urban planning as well as the interplay of the individual planning areas in the design of public and private spaces play a special role. The award addresses both clients and planners in architecture, urban planning / urban planning, landscape architecture and interior design. Together with the State Prize, the Thuringian Timber Construction Prize is awarded as a special prize. This year, the focus was on the architectural aspects of timber construction, which had to be highlighted in the submission. In addition, recognition for the particularly innovative and exemplary implementation of structural accessibility as well as for the implementation of Baukultur aspects (such as fallow conversion, internal development, digital production) was possible.
