Lucknow, the city of nawabs is blessed to have a rich history and culture. The old city’s architecture is a witness to this. The heritage walk, connects monuments of the old city with one another through a meaningful and experiential route that unfolds as one treads. It is an attempt to respect, revive and reflect history in today’s context. Surrounded by several historical Buildings, this 2 km heritage walk from the Bada Imambara to the Chota Imambara attempts to create a panorama by tying all monuments within a walkable spine. The attention is focused towards maximizing the pedestrian pathway and encouraging more of pedestrian activities, becoming venues for celebrating cultural heritage.

To fulfil the desired design scheme, the streetlight unlike a conventional pole stands proudly over a 2.25m high red granite pedestal. The form of the poles takes inspiration from the Roomi gate arch which adds to the creation of an avenue leading people towards the gate. Through lighting, the intent of the space was to create an environment conducive to them in particular and the city as a whole. ILDL used Luminaires from Heper, Lec and Derksen to execute the lighting design done by Archohm and achieve the required lighting levels. The facade illumination of the Teeli Wali Masjid, Sakhanda and Chota Imambara was also done using luminaires from ILDL’s brand portfolio.
