苏州河普陀公园驿站 Service Station in Front of Putuo Park, Suzhou Creek

普陀公园驿站是苏州河普陀段两岸公共空间贯通中先期示范建设的三座市民服务驿站之一，位于普陀公园主门前东南侧。苏州河普陀段河湾密布，两岸是我国近现代民族工业的发样地之一，与普陀公园隔河相望的药水弄半岛曾是上海早期产业工人聚居的著名棚户区之一。于1954年初建成开放的普陀公园是建国后普陀区建成的第一处城市公园，它北侧紧邻由沪杭铁路改造而来的高架轻轨线路，东南主门隔光复西路濒临苏州河药水弄湾北端口。

The Service Station in Front of Putuo Park is one of the three citizen service stations which were firstly constructed for demonstration in the Project on Public Space Connection of Both Banks of Suzhou Creek, Putuo Section. It is located on the southeast side of the main gate of Putuo Park. The Putuo Section of Suzhou Creek has many bends, and both bank areas are one of the origins of China’s modern national industries. The Yaoshuilong (Chemical Lane) Peninsula across the river from Putuo Park was once one of the famous shanty towns where industrial workers lived in early Shanghai. Putuo Park, which was completed and opened in early 1954, is the first urban park built in Putuo District after the founding of the People’s Republic of China. It is adjacent to the elevated light rail line transformed from the Shanghai-Hangzhou Railway to the north, and its southeast main gate opens to West Guangfu Road and is close to the north end of Yaoshuilong Bend of Suzhou Creek.

主门从道路后退，与两侧住宅小区围墙三面围合形成一处小型开放的公园前区；场地西半部分为硬质铺装为主的通过式公园入口小广场，经常被各种机非车辆占据；东半部分是一处地坪有所抬高的活动场地，四周围以花坛，草木茂盛，基本为树荫所覆盖，但少有人停留。选择普陀公园门前建设驿站，是为了在城市更新的语境下探索如何盘活城市空间资源，以驿站所在场地为纽带，将苏州河滨河绿道与普陀公园相串联，提升环境品质和空间活力，并塑造向社区倾斜的日常公共空间。

The main gate retreats from the road, and forms a small park front open area with the walls of the residential quarters on both sides. The western half of the site is a small pass-through park entrance square with hard pavement, which is often occupied by various types of vehicles; the eastern half is an event space with a raised floor, surrounded by flower beds, grass and trees. It is mostly shaded with few people staying here. The service station in front of Putuo Park is aimed to explore how to revitalize urban space resources in the context of urban renewal. With the site of the service station as a link, the riverside greenbelt of Suzhou Creek and Putuo Park are connected to improve the environmental quality and space vitality, as well as shape the daily public space friendly towards the community.

苏州河驿站的每块场地条件局促且复杂各异，无法设置标准化形制的驿站，我们采用菜单式、组件化的空间构形方式：即把构成驿站的不同功能空间–比如卫生间、休息室、小展厅、小花园、檐廊等–看成相对标准的不同规格的空间组件模块，而组件拼合方式根据场地条件调适定制。着眼于重新整合公园入口空间，我们在公园推拉门前布置了一个尺度宜人的回形敞廊作为新的公园门廊前庭，人们既可以穿行而过，也可以在紧靠花坛的西侧廊下小坐休憩。这一回廊也成为整个驿站的核心空间，驿站向回廊东侧的不规则场地延伸，顺次布置了休息室和展厅一大一小两个体量，休息室四周以及展厅西、南两侧都被檐廊环通，它们之间是一个狭长的天井庭园，树石掩映，名为“普园”。

As each site of Suzhou Creek Service Station are cramped and complex, it is impossible to set up a service station with a standardized form. We adopt a manual charging and componentized spatial configuration method. We regard the different functional spaces that constitute the service station, such as toilets, lounges, showroom, small gardens, eaves galleries, etc. as relatively standard spatial components and modules of different specifications, and the way of assembly of components is adjusted and customized according to site conditions. Focusing on reintegrating the park entrance space, a pleasing cloister in front of the park’s sliding door is arranged as a new park porch vestibule. People can either walk through or take rest under the west porch next to the flower bed. This cloister has also become a core space of the entire station. The service station extends to the irregular site on the east side of the corridor, where the lounge and the showroom are arranged in sequence. The lounge and the west and south sides of the showroom are surrounded by eaves galleries, and between them there is a long and narrow courtyard garden, shaded by trees and rocks, called “Puyuan Garden”.

驿站的东南角展厅檐廊下布置了壁龛式的24小时服务设施，方面市民使用，并在外侧沿路设置了非机动车停车位。驿站也展现给城市道路一个连续开放的水平檐廊，房间体量再从檐廊后升起。入口回廊和休息室之间北侧的原有门卫值班室也进行了改造并与驿站结建。由于公园内不远处已有公共厕所，驿站的公共卫生间也就缩减到最小规模的隔间式布置方式设置在门卫背面与围墙的不规则缝隙中。

A citizen-friendly niche-style 24-hour service facility is arranged under the eaves of the showroom in the southeast corner, and non-motor vehicle parking spaces are set up along the road outside. The service station also presents a continuous open horizontal eaves gallery to the road, and the rooms rise from behind the eaves gallery. The original park lodge on the north side between the entrance cloister and the lounge has also been renovated and connected with the service station. Since there is a public toilet nearby in the park, the public toilet in service station has been reduced to the smallest cubicle and arranged in the irregular gap between the park lodge and the fence.

展厅北侧结合保留的大树形成一处小小的宁静后花园，并在围墙上衬以绿植墙作为背景，安坐其中与普园隔廊相望，也可以透过普园西侧的休息室望到公园入口前庭。考虑到沿河防汛墙较高，地面层无法观河，我们在休息室和展厅的屋顶都布置了天台花园，由后花园东侧紧靠围墙的一部室外钢梯到达，并用一座跨越普园上空的小天桥将两个屋顶连为一体。

The north side of the showroom is combined with reserved trees to form a small quiet backyard garden, and the surrounding wall is lined with a green plant wall as the background. People can either sit in the backyard looking across the eaves gallery to Puyuan Garden, or overlook the park entrance vestibule through the lounge on the west side of Puyuan Garden. As the flood control wall along the river is high, view from the ground floor is obstructed, a roof garden is set on the lounge and showroom, which is reached by an outdoor steel ladder on the east side of the backyard close to fence, and two roofs are connected by a small sky bridge over Puyuan Garden.

屋顶草坪中横以不规则错动的长条方木汀步，同时我们将休息室北半部屋顶逐级升高，成为一处木铺装的面河屋顶星空剧场，在近处的树冠掩映下透过河堤上的树丛，河湾风光隐约尽收眼底。我们通过建筑避让，保留了场地上西、南两侧及东北后院里的所有八株胸径30公分以上的大树，并在西、南两侧保持了连续的花坛，并对种植进行了优化，由此延续了基本为树荫所覆盖的场地原有特质。

In the roof lawn, there are irregularly staggered long square wooden steps. The roof of the northern half of the lounge is raised step by step to become a timber-paved roof star theater facing the river. Under the shade of the nearby tree canopy, people will find panoramic river bend is all in sight on the riverbank. We designed the building in a proper place in order to keep all eight large trees with a diameter of more than 30cm at breast height on the west and south sides of the site and the backyard in the northeast. Also, we maintained continuous flower beds on the west and south sides and optimized the planting. As a result, the original site character of basically covered by shade of trees continues.

为了简化狭小场地中的施工难度，并保证施工期间不影响公园的日常出入，建筑整体采用了高装配率的钢木混合胶合木建造系统。回廊及檐廊的纤细圆钢柱内外侧错位布置，由此形成廊顶棚富有特色的节奏化连续交叉斜梁。休息室和展厅的竖向结构采用不对称布置方式诱导内力转移，一侧是比较粗壮的方柱抵抗大部分水平力，并藏于书架或墙体内，一侧是以受竖向荷载为主的相对纤细的圆柱，与檐柱保持相近的结构尺度。

In order to reduce the construction difficulty in such a narrow site and ensure that the daily access to park is not affected during the construction period, the whole building adopts a glued laminated timber construction system of hybrid wood-steel structure with a high assembly rate. The slender round steel columns of the cloister and eaves galleries are misaligned inside and outside, thus forming the characteristic rhythmic continuous cross skew beams of the corridor roof. The vertical structure of the lounge and showroom adopts an asymmetrical arrangement to induce internal force transfer. One side is all relatively thick square columns which are hidden in bookshelf or wall. They can resist most of the horizontal force. The other side is relatively slender round columns which maintain a similar structural scale to eaves columns. They are mainly subjected to vertical loads.

室内顶棚以露明的单向密肋梁为特征，并与灯光结合。休息室北侧随着屋顶的升起引入了柔和的北向高侧天光。休息室和展厅的实体外墙覆以氧化铝平板，门卫和卫生间的外墙为深层碳化防腐木墙板。回廊及檐廊的屋顶为直立锁边的铝镁锰板屋面。

The interior ceiling features exposed one-way ribbed beams combined with lighting. The north side of the lounge introduces a soft north-facing high-side skylight as roof rises. The solid exterior walls of the lounge and showroom are covered with anodized aluminum slabs, and the exterior walls of the park lodge and toilets are covered with deep carbonized anti-corrosion SYP timber panels. The roofs on cloisters and eaves galleries are made of aluminum-magnesium-manganese alloy sheeting with upright seams.

苏州河顺义路口袋公园驿站 Service Station in Shunyi Road Pocket Park, Suzhou Creek

顺义路口袋公园驿站是苏州河普陀段两岸公共空间贯通中先期示范建设的三座市民服务驿站之一，位于苏州河北岸顺义路尽端与滨河光复西路之间的口袋公园内，扼守学堂湾的北端。苏州河普陀段河湾密布，两岸是我国近现代民族工业的发样地之一，而与顺义路驿站隔河相望的学堂湾南岸半岛是中国第一所现代意义上的大学圣约翰大学著名的老校园（现为华东政法大学），历史氛围浓厚。顺义路为1950年初填林家港所筑，以原苏州河北岸产业工人聚居的顺义村得名。

The Service Station in Shunyi Road Pocket Park is one of the three citizen service stations which were firstly constructed for demonstration in the Project on Public Space Connection of Both Banks of Suzhou Creek, Putuo Section. It is located in Pocket Park between the end of Shunyi Road and West Guangfu Road on the north bank of Suzhou Creek, guarding the northern end of Xuetang ( Church School) Bend. The Putuo Section of Suzhou Creek has many bends, and both banks are one of the origins of China’s modern national industries. The South Bank Peninsula of Xuetang Bend, across the river from this Service Station, is the famous former campus of St. John’s University (now East China University of Political Science and Law, ECUPL ). It was the first modern university in China with a strong historical atmosphere. Shunyi Road was built by filling Linjiagang river in the early 1950s and was named after the Shunyi Village where industrial workers lived on the north bank of the Suzhou Greek.

口袋公园所在的场地是东侧学校和西侧居住小区之间的一条狭长空隙地，长年为工棚占据。随着这段光复西路的景观绿道化改造完成，这片正对河湾口的场地急需提质更新为将北岸纵深地带的社区居民引导向河滨的视线通廊型景观公共空间，并结合驿站的设置为市民提供高品质的休憩交流空间。

The site where Pocket Park is located is a long and narrow space between the school on the east side and the residential area on the west side. It has been occupied by work sheds for many years. With successful transformation of West Guangfu Road into a greenway on this scetion, this site facing the mouth of river bend is in urgent need of being upgraded to a public space as a landscape visual corridor to Suzhou Creek that attracts the community residents in the deep area of the north bank. Combined with the service station, it can provides the citizen with a high-quality rest and communication space.

Base on the narrow and long terrain, the service station which close to the school fence on the east side is lined up from north to the south , and the west side is reserved as a pedestrian passage.

驿站分南北两段，北段是公共卫生间模块，三面配有檐廊，将人流从场地北端后退道路的入口小广场引入，南侧廊下布置有壁龛式的24小时服务设施。南段是连在一起的休息室和小展厅，它们之间有一处从西侧檐廊凹入的小天井。南北两部分以一小段连廊居中相接，连廊西侧形成从人行通道凹入的开敞小庭院，作为通道的放大节点；连廊东侧与围墙间形成另一个内向小庭，并有楼梯通向休息室和展厅屋顶的天台花园。屋顶草坪中横以不规则错动的长条方木汀步，创造了从高处蜿蜒走向河滨的另一条路径。

The service station is divided into two sections, north and south. The north section is a public toilet module, with eaves galleries on three sides to introduce people from the entrance square facing the road at the north end of the site. There are 24-hour alcove-style service facilities under the south gallery. The south section is set with an interconnected lounge and showroom, with a small patio between them recessed from the eaves gallery on the west side.The north and south parts are connected by a small section of connecting corridor in the middle. On the west side of the corridor, a small open courtyard recessed from the pedestrian passage is formed as an enlarged node of the passage; another small inward courtyard is formed between the east side of the connecting corridor and the surrounding wall. There are also stairs leading to the rooftop garden above the lounge and showroom. In the roof lawn, long square wooden steps staggered irregularly, creating another path that meanders from rooftop to the riverside.

休息室屋顶北端的西半部屋顶从天台花园逐级升高，成为一处木铺装的小型面河屋顶星空剧场。天台花园在休息室的最南端以一条略偏向东南的绿坡平缓过渡到河滨绿道，坡地上错落的木方汀步自然形成面河的城市看台，将对岸河湾环绕的半岛上的历史校园风貌尽收眼底，并将星空剧场延续到河边形成以滨河步道为舞台、以对岸老校园为背景的小中见大的水岸剧场。

The western half of the roof at the north end of the lounge roof is raised from the rooftop garden step by step, forming a small river-facing starry sky theatre with timber pavement. At the southernmost end of the lounge, the roof garden gently transitions to the riverside greenway with a green slope slightly inclined to the southeast. The scattered wooden steps on the slope naturally form an urban stand facing the river, which provides a panoramic view of the historical campus on the peninsula surrounded by the river bay on opposite bank. It also helps extend the starry sky theater to the riverside to form a small-sized and large-scale waterfront theater with the riverside trail as stage and the old campus on the opposite bank as background.

从星空剧场向北回望，以公共卫生间的绿植屋顶为前景，正好望向作为普陀区城市地标的环球港双塔。口袋公园的南北穿行路径蜿蜒曲折，宽窄变化，一侧由驿站长长的水平檐廊限定，一侧是衬有绿植墙的小区围墙及花坛，间隔设置休息座椅。通道南端稍放大为一处小广场，以坡道及变幻的台阶与略高的滨河绿道相接，并有一部略偏西南的直跑楼梯通往天台花园，楼梯上半段与绿坡屋顶夹角处稍放宽为可坐人的面河台阶。

Looking back from the starry sky theater to the north, the twin towers of Shanghai Star Global Port which is the landmark of Putuo District is just in the eyes through the green roof of the public toilet. The north-south path of Pocket Park is meandering with varying widths. One side is defined by the long horizontal eaves gallery of the station. The other side is the residence community enclosure and flower beds lined with green walls, with seats set at intervals. The southern end of the passage is slightly enlarged into a small square, which is connected to the slightly higher riverside greenway by ramps and changing steps. There is a straight stair leading slightly southwest to the roof garden. The corner between the upper half of the stairs and the green sloping roof is slightly widened to designed as a river-facing step for people to sit on.
