Common Ground | RADIX (EN)
The concept “common ground” stems from the possibility of recognizing and understanding a reality that is not only physical but also cultural, having been registered through memory, history and theory.
Architecture assigns meaning to sensorial perceptions. It consciously claims cultural significance and establishes links between realities transforming the act of recognition into affection.
Based on the creation of an idea of common ground and contemporaneity as coincidental in time and space, to recognize is to include, promoting continuity instead of seeking novelty. Researching and proposing are acts of cultural recombination, allowing for dialogue and reflection to meet.
In the field of architecture memory identifies shapes, spaces, materials, scents, touch, light and sounds. This process of identification is both elective and affective. This recognition is in it self a selection, reawakening and recombining, allowing for a critical understanding of a common heritage.
With “common ground” we are concerned with an evocative dimension of reality. More than a singular concept or a unique moment, we are interested in evoking a sense of a common heritage through the use of images and spaces that constitute an idea of collective value.
