The Western Entrance consists of a pedestrian entry gate, associated paving, an extent of fencing, and a service entry gate.Taylor Cullity Lethlean and internationally renowned South Australian artists, Hossein and Angela Valamanesh, have worked together to convert these otherwise utilitarian elements into a sculptural environment with an iconic and enduring presence. The Western Entrance has contributed significantly to transform the way people access and experience the Botanic Gardens, and demonstrates the Botanic Gardens’ commitment to the broader arts. It is an exemplar of successful integration of a major commissioned artwork within the public realm and is a significant contribution to the cultural life of the city.
