The project is located within the Ex Scalo San Lorenzo site, characterized by the presence of the industrial archeology of the railway and the infrastructure of the freeway. An existing building at the entrance of the site is maintained but with a new function, while the large central part of the site will be the location for a new building as substitution of a previous one. The new architecture consist of 7 floors above ground and an underground level and is developed from an architectural point of view by two bodies that come together in an angle towards the back of the site. The footprint of the volume is generated by an offset of the site boundaries. Thus accessibility to the building is assured on all sides of the building. The shape of the building is characterized by the horizontal lines of the slabs, emphasized also by the set back of the vertical structure and the façade. The void defined by the new building and the existing one will be a new urban plaza and the center point of the project, the heart and soul of the masterplan and a new green space that acts as welcoming area.
