In the latest edition of the prestigious German design awards "GERMAN DESIGN AWARD 2020", the interior design of the MOON restaurant, carried out by the MARGA ROTGER interior design studio, was awarded internationally in the category Excellent Architecture- Interior Architecture.
The MOON restaurant is located in the tourist area of Puerto de Alcudia and is presented with a fresh and informal atmosphere with a predominance of blue, referring to the colour of the sea and the Mediterranean atmosphere.
The main façade is completely open thanks to a large window from which the restaurant is accessed and thus manages to unify the interior-exterior atmosphere, providing light to the back of the restaurant.
The two lateral walls are of great importance in the project as a whole. The wall on the left is clad in pallets painted in a white colour, providing freshness and interspersing shelves with decoration. The different pallet columns serve to install the logo of the restaurant, of large dimensions.
On the right side of the premises there is a staircase made of wood and iron and it is on that wall where a large mural has been installed with the inscription "Entrance" which, together with the logo, serves as a great attraction from the street.
On the ground floor there is a restaurant, bar and kitchen area. While on the upper floor are the toilets and storage. The restaurant has an industrial atmosphere, as the air conditioning installations are visible and the iron and metal mesh is used in many structural details together with custom-made furniture.
The double height of the ceiling together with the intense blue colour create a pleasant atmosphere, giving a sensation of spaciousness and a lot of light. In the central part of the restaurant there is a large planter with a natural orange tree, from which the tables are distributed creating different atmospheres and unifying the interior with the exterior of the terrace. The long bench allows to increase the sensation of depth.
The illumination has been taken care of to the minimum detail, using leds in the shelves and pallets, creating a lot of indirect light which provides a relaxed atmosphere. The rows of bulbs hanging from the ceiling remind us of the summertime atmosphere.
