Ashley AchleithnerSenior Studio II | INTA422Instructor: Jessica NewmanBachelor's Degree in Interior DesignThis assignment was from our second term of a two-term individual design Thesis project. In this assignment, we were to refine all programming, client/end user, and site information, finalize all schematic designs and design development of the design project then present our project and findings to a panel of industry professionals. We worked on this project for two terms doing research, case studies, interviews, observations, and gathering all information needed to complete this design project.Concept: To design a healing environment through music therapy for veterans that suffer from PTSD to provide them with a sanctuary of their own that grants asylum to like-minded individuals without speaking a word but can express themselves through music. Being a veteran myself, and married to a combat veteran, this is a subject that is near and dear to my heart.Process: Researched Neuroplasticity, music and the brain, the Pharmaceutical industry and adverse effects of overmedication, and veteran rates of suicide from PTSD to fully understand each creating a mind map connecting similarities to come up with a solution of using Music Therapy as a viable option to treat PTSD.Creativity: Techniques used in Revit and Photoshop.Presentation: Created a 36" x 80" Presentation board containing inspiration images, concept statement, my design process, and final renderings to present to a panel of professionals in the Interior Design industry and my end user which was a veteran of The United States Marine Corps.
