NorthPark Center is the first in the United States to bring art by the likes of Warhol, Shapiro and di Suvero to the public in a retail setting. It is the only mall to rotate sculpture on a regular basis with the Nasher collection. While working on the interior and exterior planting package, MESA collaborated on a series of museum-quality, custom planter and bench designs for the center. The planters are minimalist in nature: circles, squares and a series of rectangles. Each is planted with a modern floral display that is changed four times each year. The careful placement of the planters forms a street atmosphere with cafe spaces along the mall corridors, one of the only malls with this arrangement. MESA worked closely with Omniplan Architects, Nasher Properties, and other existing and future tenants to collaborate on the interior expansion and garden courtyard.
