The project targets a cement factory that has been dismissed in 2010, located near the city of Sassari, Italy. The requalification aimes to give new life to one of the most important area of the north of the island of Sardinia which was one of strogest economic source of the entire area.
The re-birth of the Cement factory was thought as important action to generate new economy fluxes, social opportunities and urban/landscape requalification. The design turns the whole factory into a research centre of architecture tecnologies(a sinergy of accademic and private researches) and into a centre of trash reuse where peolple can learn how to create and give new life to their daily wastes. Some of th existing buildings (damaged mostly are going to be demolished, other will be transformed with other functions and requalified for the new program. Other elements will be desmounted and reused in other way.
All the project has been developed thinking as well as with a bioclimatic approach.
The project aims to be energy self-sufficent (at least partially) with the installation of high-tech solar and heating tecnologies.
The site will be a new centre of attraction that involves people of all ages and can increase a new sense of sustainable development and new welth for the entire region.
