PGGM in Zeist is an advanced financial service provider in the health sector. The project was to increase their existing office space and to retrieve the green park surrounding it by solving the parking issue. At the same time the office space should facilitate a new, more open and flexible way of working. Therefore MateoArquitectura in cooperation with ADP architecten built two highly transparent and wide office wings and a new building within the existing patio.
In the new construction a three layer underground parking garage and an expedition street was built underneath the two new office wings. The office wings and the building in the patio itself are lifted further above ground level by a steal construction. As such, this volume of the building is brought to the same height as the magnificent crests of the trees surrounding the building. The long views within the park are therefore maintained.
The architecture itself sets out to facilitate accidental meetings and stimulate cooperation between different departments by virtue of its flexible working spaces and connectivity i.e. visibility throughout the building.
The new building is sustainable, transparent and dynamic while its physical connection to the old building ensures that both become an integrated whole.
