For its first UK regional office, Gensler chose as its home a building in the heart of Birmingham’s most creative, up-and-coming community: Digbeth’s Custard Factory. Despite its modest size, the new studio boasts a broad variety of workspaces within its open plan. The innovative use of acoustic curtains creates infinitely changeable partitions that allow transformation of the space into a series of flexible, adaptable and semi-permanent work and interaction areas. To celebrate the building’s character, minimal design interventions are employed. Elevated light installations create a distinctive identity while weaving a new element into the community fabric.
