"Soif d’ailleurs" is a wine 140m² boutique in Paris, specialized in foreign wine. It is both a selling, a wine tasting and a reception space. We worked with the client to program and design a space enabling those three activities.
The main difficulty of the space was its low ceiling height. We then conceived three spaces going from the street window toward the back of the store. The space on the street is used as the wine selling space. The middle space is used for wine tasting. Two rooms on the back are used to host events and receptions.
The boutique space has a double height that we created by demolishing the floor of the administration space. The two rooms in the back are lighten by a skylight and may be isolated by sliding doors.
The design of the project is sober and elegant in order to put the focus on the product sold. The floor is made of a light colored terrazzo which incorporates green glass pieces. All the furniture is made of light oak wood and design specifically for this space. Every bar tops are made of white marble.
A great care was given to the scenography et story telling for the wine selling. Different display setup have been design such as a wall with a back light to display the main products, individual shelves on a blank wall and a wine library. Those features enable the client to present its products with more hierarchy according to his merchandising plans.
