Design for a tailor-made suit salon in a historical townscape that has been designated as a preservation district of Nagoya city.
The salon serves only one group at a time and customers could casually talk with the tailor over the counter, just like dropping by a bar. Behind the counter there are fabric samples for suits instead of alcohol, so customers could select fabrics and buttons for their suits as if they pick up a drink. The partition wall at the office was placed diagonally to make the store more spacious and give accent. It was finished with tiles in herringbone pattern, as with fabrics of suits, with brass joints, creating an exquisite atmosphere.
