For its Portland office renovation, engineering firm Glumac turned to Gensler for an environment that would encourage collaboration and reflect the company’s commitment to sustainability and creativity. Open and light-filled, the space centers on “neighborhood work areas,” where daylight and views are available to nearly all employees along with dedicated collaboration areas to facilitate increased teaming, learning and sharing. A lab provides space for experimentation with new technologies. To accommodate Glumac’s LEED® goals in a challenging structure, Gensler employed creative solutions focusing on internal mechanical and electrical systems, external glazing and windows that foster a wider communal sense.
