Fluvia opens its showroom on the second floor of the old Simon factory in Poblenou, Barcelona.
The Estudi Antoni Arola interior design studio conceived the space to reveal the essence of the Fluvia brand and to help visitors to interact with its most representative collections of luminaires, such as Point, Arch, Loop, Slim, Slim System and Cool.
During the presentation, the head of Fluvia’s design department, Salvi Plaja, the brand manager, Anna Ferrer, and the showroom’s creator, Antoni Arola, explained the concept of the space to the attendees. Covering approximately 500 m2, it was designed as an experiential circle where the luminaires are presented boldly: integrated into the surroundings or displayed to demonstrate the R&D applied in each collection.
The space is also a journey of the senses that encompasses the visitor; an ambiance that evokes nature, sprinkled with sounds and colours; a natural and human environment that is simple and suggestive, like the essence of Fluvia luminaires.
The company’s brand manager, Anna Ferrer, says that it is important that the space reflect “the technical quality of the luminaires, but above all, that it transmit the sensations that they provoke, the atmosphere that they bring to spaces”.
We begin the tour with the Loop, an iconic design by Antoni Arola for Fluvia, developed with OLED technology. This section allows us to create imaginative compositions by rotating the luminaires 360º.
Suspended over the circuit, the modulated and versatile Arch downlight can be round or square, black or white, surface or recessed. The elegant and timeless design by Josep Lluscà for Fluvia makes many different combinations possible. Also suspended, Fluvia’s Cool collection is displayed in recessed or surface versions, with its innovative minimal shape.
Recently selected to bathe the rooms of the Antoni Tàpies Foundation in Barcelona with light, the flexible Slim System forms a winding composition distributed at various heights due to the luminaire’s vertical growth and 310º rotation. According to Salvi Plaja, “the Slim System stands out for its ability to light up a space without invading it”. Or, as its creator Josep Lluscà puts it, for being “an invisible light”.
The installation dedicated to the Point projector invites visitors to experiment with the light intensity regulator or dimmer built into the body of the luminaire and to project its light beam clearly through its positioning laser. It also shows the project’s compact design, with no visible screws or wiring.
Arch is the main feature of the installation dedicated to the innovative X-Trimless system patented by Fluvia, which is demonstrated step by step. This new system makes the installation of recessed luminaires easy and fast, achieving a uniform result in the light emitted even if installed on imperfect surfaces. It also makes grouping easier, thereby multiplying the options for use.
Finally, Fluvia surprises us with its presentation of its luminaires in knolling format, which gives a close view of all their components whilst showing the high-level technology hidden in the firm’s minimalist design. This system is illustrated by Design for Disassembly, a strategy for the environment developed by Fluvia in all its collections that guarantees easy maintenance of the luminaires and their total dismantlement at the end of their useful life.
As the designer Antoni Arola has said, “Fluvia’s main value lies in its ability to imagine and design complex products that seem simple”. This philosophy of the brand is also reflected in the new showroom.
Espacio Fluvia is open to the public and may be visited from Monday to Friday, from 10 am to 8 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm. The address is C/Sancho de Ávila, 66, 2nd floor. To request a guided tour, please write to [email protected]
