Nero is a renovation design project, that aims  to meet the needs of a young couple. The design process started from the analysis of their needs and preferences, their way of life as well as the existing situation of the apartment, which is important to understant, for a further reconfiguration. The new apartment is the result of the merge between a 1 room aprtment and a larger 2 rooms apartment unit. The decision was made to functionally reconfigure the space, by demolishing existing walls and building new compartments as needed.   

From a functional point of view, the apartment was divided into two large areas, the parents’ area, in place of the larger two room apartment and the child’s area reconfigured from the smaller unit, which can be accessed separately from the main entrance hall. The parents’ area in turn is divided into a living area, with a living room, dining area and an open space kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and wardrobe. The child’s area also has a bedroom for the child’s grandmother, as well as a sleeping area in the attic which is going to be added according to the project, there is also bathroom and a small living area with a kitchen. 

Other important functional requirements that were taken into account were the provision of a larger area for the wardrobe and an area for displaying the collection of art objects of the clients. Aesthetically, the design is eclectic combining minimalist modern trends, with other stylistic elements mostly in one tone, but with light and color accents. Just like in the living area, the black walls are enriched by the lush green of the exotic plants as well as the red accents of the furniture and the warm yellow of the lighting fixtures. An important role in this space belongs to the display shelves of the customers’ collectibles, which also has its own lighting system. The other rooms in this area, the bedroom, the bathroom and the wardrobe, are finished in the same shades of black.

In the bedroom, the color accent is represented by the composition of exotic plants and a bathtub in a shade of aquamarine, and in the bathroom, the wall is finished with bronze metallic tiles . 

The general atmosphere is meant to highlight the appetite for a luxurious way of life of the clients. The child’s area however is in contrast with the parents’ area, even chromatically, the white walls contrasting with the black walls. The space is brighter and warmer thanks to the light wood furniture, wood that can also be found on the walls.
