Terry Design has created a workplace for software company, Instil, that reflects in a physical sense the benefits of custom design located in Belfast, Ireland.
Grounded but evolving – Although the company has been established for years, technology is always changing and we wanted to create an aesthetic that was timeless and neutral, something that wouldn’t restrict the brand as it grows and develops. A base palette of natural timber finishes are layered with soft blues and greens and finished with meaningful artwork and handmade ceramics which can be changed as the brand progresses.
The space is also flexible in its function. Private meeting rooms double up as all-day offices for international visitors, and the open plan breakout space can be easily transformed into a formal training zone or event space.
Technical but personal – At Instil, client relationships and staff wellbeing are just as important as technical know-how. A purely clinical approach for the interior wouldn’t have been right. Luscious planting, rich resawn oak tables and a generous sprinkling of custom-made soft seating create a contemporary office that also feels really comfortable to work in.
The black kitchen offers an atmospheric contrast to the brighter workspaces and the message of its statement neon sign, “Wish you were here!” challenges the perception that the successful workplace is all work, no play.
Informal but sophisticated – Despite some more casual areas in the office, it was important that it still felt like workplace and not a playground. The space retains its sophistication and professionalism through high quality materials. With solid maple and LG Hi-Macs at the reception desk, Vitra chairs and luxury textured loop pile carpet, engineered oak flooring and powder-coated steel throughout, the office communicates Instil’s ethos of high-quality solutions and doing things right so that they stand the test of time.
