Can you also tell a bit more about you ?
My name is Simon Stålenhag, I’m 29 years old and born and raised in Stockholm, Sweden. I grew up in a rural setting outside of Stockholm and much of my art is inspired by that.
Why and when started it ?
I’ve been fascinated by the swedish landscape since I was a bird watching kid doing watercolors. I was introduced to Swedish natural painters like Bruno Liljefors, Gunnar Brusewitz and Lars Jonsson. Al tough I always loved film and grew up watching classics like Alien and Terminator, tt was not until my late teens that I discovered sci-fi as an art style.
How work it ?
I learned the trade doing watercolors and gouache paintings, but for about seven years ago I moved over to digital. All the art on my website is digital. As preparation for a piece, I take a lot of photos and do ink sketches. Then I move to the Wacom pen.

About Simon Stalenhag
I’m an artist based in the countryside outside of Stockholm, Sweden. I’ve been involved with a lot of different projects, ranging from films, commercials and book covers to art directing and concepting for video games. I’m also the second half of Pixeltruss (the other half being Tommy Salomonsson), who recently released the 16-bit platformer Ripple Dot Zero.
