This home captures the distinctive features of traditional Japanese architecture – from the simplicity of the construction materials to the use of partition walls to separate the interior spaces. The design crafted by Mizusawa Design studio expresses the key concept of harmony with nature and develops the plan along horizontal lines to foster the dialog between the home and the trees that surround it.

Japan is universally acknowledged as the land of minimalist design and this home’s interior masterfully reflects the kind of uncluttered elegance that still emanates a warm, inviting vibe.

A Groundpiece sofa, designed by Antonio Citterio and upholstered in ecru fabric, was chosen to furnish the living area. In place of traditional armrests, two saddle-hide-clad consoles provide surfaces for accessories and handy shelves for books and objects.
