DesignAgency was commissioned to develop the brand identity of Carversteak and create a new spin on the classic steakhouse with an innovative blending of high tech elements and classic glamour for its Las Vegas debut.
Carversteak is the debut Las Vegas property from Carver Road Hospitality, the new venture formed by award-winning hospitality executive Sean Christie and real estate, media, and marketing executive Nelson Famadas to invest, develop and operate outstanding hospitality experiences.
Carversteak covers 13,500 square feet in the newly built Resorts World Las Vegas complex, on the north end the famous Las Vegas Strip, earning it the elite status as one of the entertainment capital’s largest luxury steakhouses. Hallmarks of Art Deco and mid-century modern design, as well as the nuanced palette of the area’s desert sand dunes, enrich the luminous restaurant, which includes an expansive lounge, two private dining rooms, a wine-tasting cellar, and a central dining area that opens onto a sweeping terrace with an outdoor bar and garden seating.
Upon entering the lounge, guests are dazzled by a 70-foot-long bar crowned by a row of gold-brushed fins. At eye level, a digital screen wraps-around the full length of the bar to display digital art, personalized content for private gatherings or live events, allowing the lounge to nimbly adapt to a variety of moods and occasions. Similarly, the intimate Whiskey Room and artisanal The Knife Shop can transform into two smaller or one large private dining space. Enveloped by oak paneling inset with decorative lattice work, they feel like secret rooms designed to reward both curiosity and connoisseurship.
Art animates the main dining area, where a series of lively paintings by Thomas Wachholz complement rosewood parquet floors and curved, channel-tufted banquettes embellished with decorative bass screens. Set in the heart of the restaurant, the dining area is bright and dynamic, with uninterrupted views of the seasonal terrace. For more secluded gatherings, three couple’s nooks tucked below arched ceilings offer cozy one-to-one seating, and a generous VIP booth can be curtained off for a heightened sense of privacy.
Patterned-tile and cane panelling carry the mid-century modern mood outdoors, where textured seating is paired with teak, terrazzo and custom marquetry bistro tables. A casual bar area, a lounge-style garden and a private dining space divide the terrace into three distinct zones, all with tree-top views of the neighbouring parkette. Situated just off the city’s main thoroughfare, this lush oasis offers a welcome pause from the busy streets below.
Throughout Carversteak, DesignAgency transformed surfaces with custom treatments. In the lounge, a black walnut coffered ceiling and bespoke stone floor form the intricate backdrops to plush seating and mixed media art by Canadian painter Thrush Holmes. A geometric composition of oak squares also adds interest to the ceiling in the main dining area; lit from behind, it permits slivers of soft light to shine through and illuminate the space. A balance of statement fixtures and discreet ambient lighting, designed and wired to be precisely controlled, artfully shift the energy in the restaurant from day to night.
