The brief was to replace an existing dwelling with a 3/4 bedroom house, capitalizing on a unique site overlooking the reservoir. Requiring a modern and spacious home, reminiscent of lodges in New Zealand, the clients also wanted to preserve a level of warmth and ‘homely’ comfort. They required clean sharp lines from large glass areas, taking advantage of the light and views, yet utilising the warmth and tactility of natural stone, slate flooring and oak cladding. The open plan areas are extended beyond the house, spreading out into the garden. Level thresholds and the same slate floor finishes blur the boundaries between inside and out. The end result has provided the clients with an exceptional property, of which they are very proud.
