Building a new staff restaurant and retail outlet for WÜRTH was an opportunity to create a dialogue between two disconnected areas: the large logistics platform on one side, and the museum and company HQ on the other. The project was to form a highly visible and central connecting feature for the WÜRTH site at Erstein. The restaurant and terrace are south-facing and enjoy a lot of sun. The dining room and cafeteria are easily accessible as they are located near the street and museum. To bring together all the elements included in the programme, a single roof covers the entire facility. The wood used in the dining room, which is designed as a large, friendly area, gives it a warm, welcoming feel. This large space houses both the dining room and cafeteria. Its simple geometry makes it very flexible: it is possible to create a number of smaller spaces using furniture, plants, or mobile partitions.
The concrete used for the restaurant echoes that of the museum and head office opposite.
