The African Queen. A Gilded Fusion of African Heritage and Australian Opulence at The Meat & Wine Co.
The concept of the Castlereagh store harmoniously blends the prosperity of the Australian gold rush era with the diverse culture of Africa, crafting a remarkable dining experience that is both elevated and familiar.
The bar area showcases a sophisticated black color palette, paying homage to the richness of Africa and its cultural heritage. The utilization of high-end materials such as marble, gold, velvet, and leather complements the restaurant's reputation for contemporary sophistication and innovation.
The source of this gold inspiration lies in the Golden Rhinoceros of Mapungubwe, a magnificent wooden sculpture covered in thin sheets of gold that originated in the medieval Kingdom of Mapungubwe in South Africa. This symbol encapsulates the combination of physical power and wealth embodied in the region.
Gold Fever: The discovery of gold in New South Wales in 1851 forever altered the course of Australian history. Australia transformed into a melting pot, attracting fortune seekers from all corners of the world, allured by the promise of prosperity offered by the goldfields.
Eureka! The gold rush served as the catalyst for the industrialization of Australia, leading to the development of roads, railways, and telegraph systems. Australia was propelled into modernization, eventually becoming one of the world's wealthiest societies.
Nighttime in the Gold Fields: At night, the goldfields came alive with the twinkle of a thousand campfires, lively conversations and shouts, distant sounds of pistols firing, and the resounding melodies of musical instruments playing.
