The restaurant MAMA ROMA in Pskov is located on Oktyabrsky avenue, the central street of the city, in the historical house of Kluge - perhaps the only wooden house preserved in the city, with a stone semi-floor and more than 150 years of history. After a long decline in recent years the house has been carefully restored by the new owner as part of the historic heritage of the city. The restaurant network interior re-concept, especially in old historical building atmosphere - is a great challenge for us. The impossibility of re-planning, the restored oak floor and the elements of the ceiling determined the attentive attitude to the native elements of the interior: we decided not to deny them but to make them part of the emotion. The bright, sunny and slightly chamber hall of the first floor is working with the sense of a living room in an old country house, adding a slightly visible component of history to our mix. The theme of Italy gently arises in authentic wooden objects of furniture and decoration, but we remember that it is better to admire yesterday through the prism of today: the technological equipment of pizza-zone and dining tables-squares in the center of the hall are made of smooth stainless steel. A restrained amount of tomato-red accents and brass furniture support this mix. The soft mediterranean plaster at the walls is decorated with rows of inlaid mayolica. The tasty mustard color of some walls plays a special role. A great emphasis in the project is traditionally placed on the customized interior objects which were manufactured according to our tasks not only in St. Petersburg, but also in the Pskov workshops by local craftsmen. We are always proud of the opportunity to support locals. A special value for us is a regional project at a powerful historical point on the map of the country, contrary to the ongoing centralization of design around the two capitals. Unquestionably it is a great experience to make an atmospheric interior for such a glorious city.
