Karolinska Solna大学附属医院的改造是瑞典的最大的医院改造工程之一，同时它也是实现Stockholm/Malardal地区作为全世界最重要的生命科学基地的一个不可或缺的投资。与先前的附属医院相比，新建后的Karolinska Solna大学附属医院的景观密度将会大大增加，这也会使得瑞典首都Stockholm的风景更加具有吸引力。医院的大楼本身很高，下方的屋脊也与周边的城市景观相和谐。

在该工程中，设计团队将很大的精力放在了大厦的外部环境上，比如校内公园的改造，他们希望该大厦能够与周边的公园风格相符，使它们成为一个整体来呈现在人们的眼前。进入周边广场的入口很是气派，入口处有两个比例相称的大厅，里面有许多公共服务设施，方便了学生们的日常生活。这些公共场所中的设施建设以及所选用的材料也具有永恒性，比如石头，玻璃，钢制景观等等，不仅美观，而且实用性也很强。

New Karolinska Solna University Hospital is one of Sweden's biggest ever hospital projects and a crucial investment in bringing to fruition the vision of the Stockholm/Malardal region as the world's foremost region within life sciences.The New Karolinska Solna University Hospital is introducing a scale involving considerably higher density as compared to the current Karolinska hospital and inner city Stockholm. The high core facades contrast with the lower envelope buildings whose roof ridges are in harmony with their surroundings.

Great care is being devoted to the external environment, particularly to the university park which unites the institute and the hospital. The main entrance from the square welcomes visitors with the generously proportioned entrance hall which contains the service functions. The materials used in the public environments are timeless – natural stone, glass, steel featuring elements.
