This stone exhibition hall in Milan was designed by John Pawson in collaboration with marble brand Salvatori and lighting brand KKDC. Called the Stone House, the exhibition hall is made entirely of recycled materials made from discarded Stone and natural resins. At night, low-energy LED lights illuminate the building and highlight the texture of the stone. The interior recess conceals the lighting system.
KKDC Lighting experts provide a surprisingly innovative MoMo LED light source that illuminates the building at night, turning the cut into a bright beam while highlighting the texture of the stone and the elegance of the building. Stone House is made entirely from recycled materials, made from market leader Salvatori formulated Stone slag, including 99% Stone waste and just 1% natural resin as binder.
"Viewed from the colonnade, the installation is a simple house-shaped architectural structure," explained John Pawson. It is a building that is both direct and inviting, creating a constant contrast and juxtaposition of ethereal and material, light, shadows and surfaces. "Cut with meticulous precision, the plane of the dark stone conveys a sense of importance and precision," Pawson added.
The stone gallery is centered around KKDC's breathtakingly innovative linear MoMo LED lighting products. Gaps at the edges and in the center of the building allow light to be protected in the walls, while the cracks break the intimacy and closure and provide illumination. At night, linear MoMo LED lights in the house turn these cuts into bright beams.
