A 'SuperSurface' is proposed that has been carefully studied and is qualified to house microspaces in which a broad spectrum of Madrid society and visitors can coexist, assuming a future of social diversity and heterogeneity of uses as the main proposal for social sustainability.
The 'SuperSurface' has enough inflections that it has been studied in detail regarding sunlight, shade, wind, landscaped areas, tree masses, humidity, temperature, noise, mobility, the most isolated areas, or more exposed... this technical meticulousness makes it possible to locate and qualify the appropriate spaces for the neighbours, for cultural activities, for shops, for tourists... in short, all the complexity of situations is resolved with a unifying strategy of urban layers. This strategy has been called 'ThermoSocial Supersurface'
The planning is based on the architectural concept of 'SuperSurface' Superstudio 1971, where the development of daily life was proposed as a technical micro-ecosystem. The new proposal for the Plaza de España enables an ecosystem of integrated layers through a climate strategy, generating a quality urban space. A Plaza de España capable of moving collectively and that goes beyond the trivialized paradigms of sustainability is designed.
