This property is located in Tuxedo Park, in the State of New York, United States. It is a rural area about 40 minutes north of New York City. The home is situated on an wooded acre of land and is the main residence of interior designer Crystal Sinclair, founder of Crystal Sinclair Designs, who lives here with her husband Ben, her three year old daughter Mira, and their dog Trinity. The 2,500-square-foot home is anL shape so it is quite open. There is the main level with a finished basement. The home has 4 bedrooms and 3 baths.

客厅的草毯、客厅和主浴室的金属装饰、亚麻家具、皮椅、大理石桌、天鹅绒靠背和床头板，以及墙上砖炉都选用了有机且纹理丰富的材料。设计师表达了自己的见解：“既然房屋建在如此丰富的自然环境内，最有意义的事便是将这份自然引入室内”。

Sinclair chose organic materials or materials with lots of texture such as the grass rug in the living room, the metal accents in the living and main bath, the linen sectional, leather chairs, marble tables, the velvet ottoman and headboard, and the brick fireplace wall. “Having a home surrounded by so much nature it only made sense to bring that inside,” she says.

灵感源于家庭。设计师讲述道：“我只是顺应了家人升级住宅的提议。设计反映出家庭的个性，我们的家庭严肃而有趣，我们的房屋既井井有序又热情好客，既大胆又含蓄。”

The home itself was the main source of inspiration. “The home begged for an update and I just listened,” Sinclair says. “I feel the project reflects our family personalities. 设计私宅对于Sinclair来说是一个巨大的挑战，她坦言：“为客户而设计时，可以提供几种方案以供挑选。但为自己而设计却有无数种可能，令人难以抉择。”设计师以深色为基础，将不同元素巧妙融入设计中。如女儿卧室的条纹天花板、主浴室地板、客厅中的暗灰色区域和黑色木梁都采用深色材质。

Designing a project for herself was a big challenge for Sinclair. “For clients I narrow down options for them to select from. Knowing the countless possibilities and picking one for yourself can be difficult,” she confesses.Sinclair was drawn to dark neutrals for the base pieces and designed around them or incorporated them into the design (i.e.: Mira’s bedroom striped ceiling, the main bathroom floor, the dark grey sectional in the living room, the black metal log holder in the living room).

走廊的霓虹灯源于别出心裁的文字游戏。这里是家庭的纪念馆，墙上的照片满载回忆，按照顺序记录了从设计师与爱人第一次相遇至今的种种场景。

The neon sign in the hallway is a play on words as the hall (called the hall of family) is a collection of photographs in chronological order from when Sinclair first met her husband to now.

Sinclair wanted her home to be cozy, eclectic, and collected. Among her favorite pieces of furniture and art are: the black and white piece of art over the fireplace by Linda Colletta; the abstract red and blue piece in the master bedroom by Keren Toledano; the antique portrait of Stephen F Austin, the founder of Texas (Sinclair’s home state), that sits above our lounge; and the tally mark piece near Mira’s play corner by Waddy Armstrong.The home is filled with collections of Sinclair’s travels with her family. The pink rug is from Morocco, the fur pillows and pelts are from Iceland, the vintage art is from Greece, and the pottery is from Portugal, while the cacti are a throwback from Texas.
