The DOMUS Expo 2015 pavilion is located in the Piazza Dante, a square as part of the monumental “Centro Piacentiniano” which was built during the first twenty years of the XX century, following the design of architect Marcello Piacentini.
The pavilion was designed and built on the occasion of the Expo 2015 fair as a reference point for the town’s events and precisely in connection with fairs Expo and FuoriExpo 2015 Milano.
The main effort was to study and fabricate a structure which, despite its short supposed permanence on site, could interact with the town as truly and real grafting, an authentic building.
Steel modules are the main framework of this large parallelepiped where the ratio between transparency and opacity is balanced in the same percentage and based on a strong and pronounced symmetry directly related to the symmetrical scheme of the existing Piazza Dante square. The use of extra light glass and shimmering aluminum defines its nature.
