Opened in March 2013 in Darlinghurst which is located adjacent to the Sydney central business district. Darlinghurst is a cosmopolitan and culturally rich destination which is home to a creative network of designers, architects and artists. The area boasts a vibrant street life including long established local restaurants, cafes and bars. At night time the area comes alive whilst during the day it has the village atmosphere synonymous with urban living in a world class city. The Sydney showroom comprises a 250m2 space featuring 3m ceilings and polished concrete floors. It is located on the ground floor of a former telephone exchange building. The City East Telephone Exchange is a two storey inter-war striped classical style building erected in 1926. The building was recently substantially refurbished into commercial & retail tenancies whilst a tower element was added which comprises modern apartments. Car parking was added over two previously unexcavated basement areas whilst the building was supported by temporary structures. The recent refurbishment and conversion of the building maintained the classical proportions and vertical lines yet allowed the showroom to be stripped back to expose an industrial aesthetic to house the Boffi product range. The juxtaposition of the classic exterior and industrial interior complement each other and create a theatrical backdrop for the Boffi kitchens, bath and dressing room systems. The Boffi installation included the creation of two additional windows which now allows the opportunity for passersby’s to experience a subtle taste of the Boffi product line with complimenting lighting and fixtures. The dramatic and contemporary aesthetic and open layout of the showroom engages the visitor whilst encouraging an organic journey through the product range and the Boffi story.
